Here is an update on my attempt to heal my psoriasis condition on my hand. It’s been about a month since I started the journey. I’ve been switching my diet by eliminating processed foods from my regular menu. I’ve been mostly successful except last few days.
I dined out more than I should’ve have. Since January 1, 2013, I’ve eaten outside of home about 5 times already. That is about once every day. Plus, last night I had Chinese food.
Here is the list of foods I ate during last 4 days.
- A slice of triple chocolate fudge at Danielle’s Desserts with a cup of coffee
- A slice of cheese pizza at Whole Foods
- Shrimp Scampi & Daniel’s Steak Combo at Cheesecake Factory
- General Tso’s chicken at a local Chinese restaurant
- Chicken strips from Chick-fil-A
The worst flare up on my psoriasis was triggered on January 1st, when I had a meal at Cheescake Factory followed by a thick slice of sugar filled cake with a coffee. That’s when I noticed definitely that some foods actually trigger psoriasis condition to go worse instantly. I never thought of it this way. But because I was carefully eliminating the foods that are known to be harmful to my skin condition, I was able to notice the big difference when I ate bad foods.
All eat outs I did last few days were all family gatherings. I should’ve said no to the cake and the pizza. It should’ve been easy. It was my lack of will. I probably knew what was going to happen to my psoriasis condition. As you can see from the photos below, they look pretty bad although I’ve been using MG217 religiously.
You can see on the picture of my right hand how bad it is. You can see a number of cracks about to explode on my skin. It was extremely itchy. Scaling and flaking at its worst.
Not all things were bad though. I learned something funny. My skin reacted to certain foods that I thought was healthy and nothing happened when I ate a meal from a fast food. That was very strange. Maybe it has to do with how it was cooked.
So for example, when I ate shrimp and steak from Cheesecake Factory, my skin reacted immediately. It was so itchy that I actually went to a skin care place for a tester lotion. Then the slice of cake just bombed it. Then yesterday, I had a meal at a Chick-fil-A with my parents. I actually skipped my usual no 1 meal with bun and ordered chicken strips. I ate a cup of Coke Zero and waffle fries. Nothing happened to my skin actually. It was already bad, but nothing unusual happened.
